Elizabeth Almodobar brings a depth of continuity to Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Island Properties, having spent 30 years in real estate with the firm. This tenure is a testament to her loyalty and provides her clients with an unmatched historical perspective on Nantucket's evolving market. Known for her strong ethical foundation and "solution-focused" mindset, Elizabeth works exclusively as a dedicated buyer's or seller's agent, providing undivided advocacy and navigating every transaction with a calm, pragmatic hand through the nuances of Nantucket's distinctive market. This commitment to single agency ensures her clients' interests are protected with both strategy and heart.
Raised in a small coastal town in Maine, Elizabeth's roots in the industry run deep, as she grew up in her family's real estate business. She also spent her youth in a sailing family that raced long-distance offshore circuits from Canada down the East Coast to the Caribbean. She first came to the island for "just one summer," but Nantucket had other plans. It was here she met her husband, Beau, who was raised on the island. After a professional football career and earning his master's degree, Beau returned home to teach and coach, inspired by the local mentors who guided him. Today, they live in the Historic District home where Beau grew up and where they raised their two children, Jackson and Celia.
Elizabeth's deep sense of place is reflected in her extensive community involvement. A parishioner at Saint Mary's, she has served as a docent at the African Meeting House and volunteered with the Community Partnership for Children, the Massachusetts Family Network, the Friends of Nantucket Public Schools, the Nantucket Skating Club, and the Harvey Foundation. Her commitment to the island's future is further evidenced by her work on the Town Area Plan and Mid-Island Land Use Work Groups, her service on the Community Foundation for Nantucket's Advisory Committee, and her in-kind consulting for Nantucket Cottage Hospital.
For Elizabeth, real estate is about more than transactions; it is about the connections that define island life. In the quieter months, you'll find her walking Land Bank trails with her dogs, Rue and Apollo, or learning the art of loom weaving from a local textile artist. Come fall, she embraces the local tradition of scalloping and to Beau opening them, a skill most island kids grow up mastering-a seasonal rhythm that reminds her why she is so fortunate to call this community home.
